ThomasNet Forums…more to talk about

Since I posted about ThomasNet’s new forums, I’ve got a few comments and wanted to update a few things:

  • I posted a thread about pricing-on-websites in the marketing section (yes, I will get back to this subject soon).
  • One user said his post linking from ThomasNet forums to GlobalSpec got deleted. I’m not dissing TN for doing so, that’s a pragmatic business decision. A quick search confirms no posts referencing GS.
  • That same user pointed out that GlobalSpec has their own forums called CR4, which I didn’t know about. The home page is a little crowded, but it’s got good posts.
  • In fairness, I searched CR4 and found only one reference to ThomasNet.

  1. Thanks for the info. I didn’t know the GS had a forum, either! I guess they’re not doing a great job marketing it!

  3. Dave,

Thanks for posting! The website pricing issue should definitely stir up some lively discussion among the Forum audience.

To quickly address the deleted post issue: We are thrilled to have users posting from all domains, as long as they adhere to the terms and conditions explained in the Forum Rules section of our forum pages, found here. Unfortunately, the user in question did not, and we remove all posts in violation of these rules.

I hope this addresses the concerns expressed by some of your audience.

  5. My name is Barry Cohen and I have owned my company Absolute Air Cleaners since 1989. I used to purchase the Thomas Register before Thomasnet went online and I was very happy with the directories. However now that Thomasnet has taken the place of the physical books I can now see that the webtraffic the salesman promised is not true and in fact its (HORRIBLE) and they could care less about me their customer! Its obvious that they only want my money! The letter below is verbatim and is a good example of how Thomasnet treats people after talking them into spending their hard earned money and then not producing as promised by their salesmen. My advice is to think very hard before doing business with Thomasnet!Oct 26th 2009.To David Demey and to whom this may concern,This letter is to inform Thomasnet that due to your ex employee Ron Adams misinforming me about the traffic that Thomas Net would bring to my website http://www.aircleaners.com I can not pay the high cost of advertising with Thomasnet since it has not produced the promised high traffic with not even one phone call or sale in the almost two months it has been live.Ron Adams the employee that Thomasnet has recently fired promised me huge traffic in your website of thousands of views per month and he said that without question the paid listings would cover my advertising costs and produce a very good profit. The traffic reports show nothing as he described to me with aprox 18 views per month and ZERO phone calls and sales. Without your advertising my website through Google produces more traffic views each few minutes each and every day! Please void our agreement because of your employee’s misinformation and you can keep the money I have already sent to Thomasnet in good faith. However if you show continued bad faith and press me for more money under the said conditions of providing false website traffic information to me to get me to sign up with Thomasnet I will back charge all money paid to you with my credit card company as Ron Adams of Thomasnet sold me a service that was not as described to me when I agreed to be listed in Thomasnet. It is not my desire, however I will also post my experience in all related forums and the BBB if continued bad faith is showed to me.Please provide me with a short note with your answer within a week of this date of Oct 26th 2009 or I will commence the full chargeback. Please feel free to contact me by phone at 1-970-259-3998NOTE: Within 30 minutes of sending this E-Mail letter I received a phone call from Thomasnet collections department. The woman in collections told me that they could care less that my website was only getting 18 views a month and not the promised huge amount of traffic and would not discuss breaking the agreement in any way shape or form. The woman in collections then told me with a snicker that if I didn't pay Thomasnet the thousands of dollars due for 12 months my account would be sent out to an outside collection agency. She then told me that if I didn't pay them my credit would be ruined! It is my intention to repeat this 100 percent accurate information throughout the Internet to warn others about my horrendous experience when doing business with Thomasnet.com! If anyone would like to discuss this with me including Thomasnet staff you are welcome to call me at 1-970-259-3998.Barry Cohen—–Owner of Absolute Air Cleaners & HEPA Vacuum Cleaners at aircleaners.com
