The finer points of typing

The finer points of desktop publishing, really. Since I need to use dimensional measurements in describing my products, this is actually quite useful.

(Online, of course, its a whole other ball-game.)

    Six-style single quotes, interpuncts, ellipsis points, guillemets… Ah, life is tough for the digital age editor who used to worry about more mundane things like, say, spelling and grammar. Frankly, doing a triple lutz with the Alt key only gets you so many style points. The judges are more impressed if you know how to properly use quotation marks, apostrophes, capitals and colons, if you know when to double the t and how to spell accommodate, aesthetic and all right. Oh yeah, and the difference between its and it’s. Typographic perfection does not enable you to skate around poor spelling and sloppy syntax.

    Murry–Thanks for stopping by and dropping a funny skating metaphor.I would counter that some folks can’t tell the difference between a triple lutz and a triple salchow. But they sure know a tacky skating outfit when they see one.Unfortunately, everything has to be right. It’s hard being a marketer, or a skater!

    I have to admit, I am confused. What does typing, have to do with figure skating? And who cares what the difference is between a lutz and a salchow?
